Fullers founded
It all begins
Fullers Foods was founded in 1876 as a family firm. We set up shop in Leeds market where the founders sold fresh fruit and vegetables to customers coming from all over Yorkshire.
1959
First freezer store
Innovations in food
Fullers opened the very first freezer store at Leeds Market, paving the way in frozen food technology.
1960
Branching out
Diversifying our range
We began making even more food products in different categories. At the same time, we started sourcing and distributing frozen food to retailers including ASDA.
1973
British Frozen Food Federation
Leading the way
Fullers Foods became a founding member of the British Frozen Food Federation, dedicated to promoting and protecting the frozen food industry.
1986-2007
Cash and carry
New ways of business
Fullers opened a Cash and carry business at Leeds Wholesale Markets, offering a new way of buying food products for local companies.
2004
Farmers’ co-operative
Environmentally responsible growing
Fullers Foods and Scottish Borders Produce teamed up to form a co-operative of farmers specialising in environmentally responsible growing and processing of top-quality peas for the retail frozen market.
2005
ASDA partnership
Supplying frozen veg to more people
Fullers Foods secured a contract with ASDA to supply frozen vegetables, bringing fresh, nutritious veg to even more people.
2006
Going global
Expanding our reach
In 2006, Fullers Foods expanded globally, sourcing products from far and wide including the Far East, to create a wide range of party foods and snacks.
2008
New offices
Making our new home
It was time to move into a more modern space, in keeping with the innovative work Fullers does, so we moved to our current offices in Leeds city centre in 2008.

The UK’s largest own-brand suppliers
Becoming trusted partners in the UK
2012 is the year we became the largest own-label consolidator of frozen food in the UK, helping us to become one of the UK’s most trusted food distributors.

Bringing in people who can make a difference
Being at the forefront of innovations in food technology is really important to us. That’s why we invested in expanding our technical team, to do industry-leading work around agronomy, supply chain, sourcing and more.

Weathering the storm
2020 was a tough year for everyone, with businesses across the UK reeling from the effects of Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic. We’re proud that we maintained an industry leading service level throughout the year, to continue providing top-quality service to our customers and supplier partners.

There was cause for celebration in 2021, as Fullers Foods reached £350 million turnover.

A Change in Ownership
A new chapter
Fullers Foods undergoes a management buyout backed by private equity investment, with MD Kevin Smith appointed as new CEO
